Your young baby will cling to his nursing pillow or teddy bear for months–if not years–during the early stages of childhood. As a parent, you want to foster a nurturing environment for your developing toddler. Especially for only children, who lack the companionship of a brother or sister, a nursing pillow makes an excellent new friend.
Dont rush to ween your infant off of his comfort toys before he or she is ready. Prematurely withholding such toys can cause untold psychological damage. Consult your pediatrician and child psychologist for more information about the psychology of infant attachments.
Beyond the Nursing Pillow
The best thing you can do as a parent is to elevate your childs personality while restraining bad habits. Attempting to control the behavior of your child completely will result in unfortunate excesses, which will have consequences down the line. Generally, promoting good behavior means establishing a positive bedroom environment.
Crafting such an environment requires more than merely purchasing nap mats, baby crib bedding, and the like. You must be willing to participate actively in the evolution of your childs behavior. Work with your child to support him or her by encouraging growth and accomplishment.
